Overview:The blast.irb submits BLAST search from NCBI to search for simlar nucleotide sequences. The robot navigates to the BLAST search page and waits for you to enter a nucleotide sequence to search. The result sequences, matching scores and E-values are saved to a local 'save.txt' file if they satisfy a Score or E-value condition.You are able to customize the blast robot to:
![]() You can press the [Run] button to run the robot. It will navigate to the BLAST page and prompt you for a sequence, as:
![]() Now you copy and paste a sequence into the search box, and press [OK]. The robot will submit the search, wait for results, retrieve sequences and save the sequences into the 'save.txt' file. The results in the 'save.txt' are in XML format and look like:
![]() You can change the Score and E-value thresholds by right-clicking on the listbox entry of "Get a list of links like ...." and selecting the "Events" menu, as: ![]() It shows an event of a default condition "Eval<1e-150". To chance the condition, check the checkbox in the page and press the [Modify] button. It shows a page like: ![]() Change the default condition to other conditions such as "Score>1000 and Eval<0.01" and press the [Modify] button to confirm the change. After that you can run the robot again.
